Happy Independence Day To All

Let me start this post by saying JAI HIND.
Happy Independence Day to all my Indian fellows. This is a post which I am writing with my heads up and feeling proud about India. Our motherland, India. India, the name has been derived by the river "Indus". India is a country where many religions live as ONE religion. India is a country where great people like Mahatma Gandhi, Sachin Tendulkar etc. India has many records with it. India needs to be praised and will ever be. But, with the corruption, black money, commissions, abusing youth, crime, terrorism etc. cannot let India be the number one country. Also the increasing prices are getting more and more effective to common middle class people. But look at the positive side, just one month ago, Indian currency moved to the next level by getting a great symbol for it. Also, on the same day, the first ever Indian browser was created named Epic Browser. Do something for your country on this day. I want to say it again as I am signing off,

!!!JAI HIND!!!

Friendship

In a comparison of personal relationships, friendship is considered to be closer than association, although there is a range of degrees ofintimacy in both friendships and associations. Friendship and association can be thought of as spanning across the same continuum. The study of friendship is included in sociology, social psychology, anthropology, philosophy, and zoology. Various theories of friendship have been proposed, among which are social exchange theory, equity theory, relational dialectics, and attachment styles.
This post is being written to show the readers the true friendship between Shaikna and Vinayak. Here are their feelings about this friendship:-

SHAIKNA SAYS
Our friendship is very gr8 n meaningful one.We are sharing ideas, knwldge n all educational informations n guiding to all studnts abt the studies n general awareness in life style.

VINAYAK SAYS
A friendship which can't be broken
A friendship which doesn't have limits
A friendship where both help each other
It is a friendship between a teacher and a student
It is a friendship between Shaikna and Vinayak

Those were the thoughts on their friendship.

FIFA World Cup 2010

FIFA World Cup is back, the 19th time. This time,it is held in South Africa. It began yesterday and two matches were held yesterday. The tournament is the culmination of a qualification process that began in August 2007 and involved 204 of the 208 FIFA national teams. As such, it matches the 2008 Summer Olympics as the sports event with the most competing nations. The final is forecast to be among the most-watched events ever, possibly behind only the opening ceremony of the 2008 Olympic Games.

This is the first time that the tournament has been hosted by an African nation, after South Africa defeated Morocco and Egypt in an all-African bidding process. Italy are the defending champions, after winning the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. The draw for the finals took place on 4 December 2009 in Cape Town.

Orkut(You need to stay safer)

My orkut account has just completed 3 years in March 2010 and I know orkut very much.I have come across that there are some gangs in orkut who add some teens in their friend list, take their phone numbers and become personal with them. Then they just show their real side, showing the teens nude pictures. My friend Shaikna found out about this and we needed to inform you about this. You should never add these people.
Some guys are saying i will give u money or phone if you will cooperate for sex or othr illegal bad activities. You should never fall in the trap of these people so I have some tips.

1.Never share personal information with any friend you have added without knowing.
2.Whenever you receive friend request from an unknown person, you should first visit his/her profile and check that there is no bad thing. Then only you should add that person.
3.Make your scraps and photos available to only friends so that no other person sees them.
4.Dont try to meet any orkut unknown fellows for any offer or any purpose if they are calling you.Students awareness in orkut is main title.
5.Don't ever write your address in your orkut profile.

Please keep those points in mind and stay safe in orkut.

How to prepare for the IIT-JEE

There is no unique way of preparing for the IIT-JEE. What is good for one need not be so for another. Clearing the JEE is a project and as such needs to be planned for and managed properly.

It is said that a battle is not as much won in the field as while planning and strategising for it. The same is true in the case of the JEE. One is not likely to make significant headway if one goes headlong without a coherent plan while preparing for it. One needs to make a sound strategy for clearing the JEE. While some of the elements of such a strategy are common and equally applicable to all aspirants, there are others entirely dependent on the individual.

Believe in yourself

The first step is to start with the right frame of mind. A positive attitude is needed to last through the long drawn process. It will require sustenance of tempo for months together. Many may feel like quitting, but what is going to finally win the race is the belief that one can do it!

Know your strengths and weaknesses

This point cannot be over-emphasised. While you must believe that you can do it, you must also have a very clear idea of where you stand, to begin with. You must know your strengths and weaknesses. These could be anything that has a bearing on your preparation. Some of you, for example, may cover a lot of ground in one sitting, while for some, sustained concentration for more than a specified period at a stretch might prove to be counterproductive.

Some of you may have a natural strength in mathematics, while some may have an aptitude for chemistry or physics. It is important to know these nuances of your strengths and weaknesses. The reason is really simple. To plan and work on a winning strategy, you must know which of your strengths need to be further honed, which of your weaknesses you can live with, and which of the weaknesses you need to work upon so they don’t become a handicap.

Plan your schedule

Any successful implementation of a project is the culmination of successfully completing smaller projects and even smaller tasks. Remember that every journey takes its own time. If you wish to reach the destination in time, you need to start right away and plan out the details—which milestones do you need to cross, and when, before you finally succeed. Plans need to be worked out at different levels. And for this, you need to set specific time bound targets.

Whatever be the schedule one decides on, it may help to remember the following:
a) Formalise the schedule. Set it in the form of a chart you can see easily anytime.
b) One ought to set realistic targets, without getting influenced by how much one’s friends or classmates have covered. There is no point in setting a schedule that needs to be frequently changed.
c) Although it is not advisable to change our schedule every now and then, our schedule has to have some element of flexibility. There is no need to feel unnecessarily guilty if we have not been able to follow the schedule due to some genuine problem. We should remember to cover up the lost ground in the near future.
d) All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Nothing could be truer than this. Please remember that JEE is more about thinking and application than anything else. And to think productively one needs to keep one’s mind fresh.

Familiarise yourself with the JEE pattern

Many of us, while preparing for the JEE, tend to lay high emphasis on problem solving and not so much on understanding the subject. Since JEE itself largely consists of numerical problems, this approach leads to a false belief among the students—that the more number of problems one solves or goes through, the better are the chances of success at the JEE. While this might be true to a certain extent, solving problems prematurely without adequate grounding of fundamentals is unlikely to meet the final objective. Sometimes we also tend to entangle ourselves with unnecessarily complex problems that have very little relevance to the JEE. Students must study the kinds of questions that have been appearing in the JEE, and convince themselves about the kinds that they need to practice with.

Be rigorous and persistent

It is important to realise that there is no alternative to rigour. This means that we must be thorough with our understanding of concepts. Sometimes while trying to solve a problem, we give up quickly and look at the solution. Many a times we read a topic or see a problem or a solution and think that we have understood it. The words rigour and persistence go hand in hand. Looking at its absolute importance in the context of our preparation, we must try to do the following.

Persist with a problem till you have either found the solution or have come to a dead end. This may take hours, but the learning could be significant.

It may not be wise to skip solving a problem because you think you know how to do it. It may not be quite the same as a known problem.

Even if you have got a solution, you can always try to think up alternative solutions. This process itself could lead to insights on the concerned topic.

It might be a better idea to avoid looking at the solution, and, instead, discuss the problem with one’s friends. One may learn a thing or two that were hitherto not known.
Quality is more important than quantity

Very often you may find your friends discussing how many hours they spend every day on their preparation. You should not let any of that bother you. You may be spending less time but getting a higher or more productive output. In this context, some of the related things to note are:

It is better to confine yourself to a limited number of good books and other study material; do not consult too many books.

Spend a lot of time reading these books and work out the important derivations independently.

Work out limited number of problems, but good ones. Solving too many problems does not necessarily help us in understanding concepts.

Make it a point not to study beyond your fatigue limit.
Critically assess your progress

An extremely important element of your preparation is to periodically find out where you stand with respect to your goals. While taking tests is an integral component of this assessment, it actually goes much beyond that. The objective of a test is not only to point out your performance but also your strong and weak areas. If this feedback is not taken seriously and you proceed to take another test of similar scope and nature, there is not likely to be much difference in your performance. On the other hand, if you work hard on your weak areas before taking a test again, there is every chance that your performance will improve. It goes without saying that these are the incremental improvements that finally bear fruit.

TEAM WORK

It was a Sports Stadium.

Eight Children were standing on the track to participate in a running event.

* Ready! * Steady! * Bang !!!

With the sound of Toy pistol,

All eight girls started running.

Hardly had they covered ten to fifteen steps,

when one of the smaller girl slipped and fell down,

Due to bruises and pain she started crying.

When the other seven girls heard the little girl cry they stopped running, stood for a while and turned back.

Seeing the girl on the track they all ran to help.

One among them bent down, picked her up and kissed her gently

And enquired as to how she was..

They then lifted the fallen girl pacifying her.

Two of them held her firmly while all seven joined hands together and walked together towards the winning post........ ..

There was pin drop silence at the spectator's stand.

Officials were shocked.

Slow claps multiplied to thousands as the spectators stood up in appreciation.

Many eyes were filled with tears

And perhaps even God's!

YES.!! This happened in Hyderabad [ INDIA ], recently!

The sport was conducted by
National Institute of Mental Health.

All these special girls had come to participate in this event

They were spastic children.

Yes, they were Mentally Challenged.

What did they teach the WORLD.?

Teamwork?

Humanity?

Equality among all??

Successful people help others who are slow in learning

So that they are not left far behind.

This is really a great message... Spread it!

We never do this because we have brains!!!

"Have Breakfast… or…Be Breakfast!"

Who sells the largest number of cameras in India ?
Your guess is likely to be Sony, Canon or Nikon. Answer is none of the above. The winner is Nokia whose main line of business in India is not cameras but cell phones.
Reason being cameras bundled with cellphones are outselling stand alone cameras. Now, what prevents the cellphone from replacing the camera outright? Nothing at all. One can only hope the Sonys and Canons are taking note.
Try this. Who is the biggest in music business in India ? You think it is HMV Sa-Re-Ga-Ma? Sorry. The answer is Airtel. By selling caller tunes (that play for 30 seconds) Airtel makes more than what music companies make by selling music albums (that run for hours).
Incidentally Airtel is not in music business. It is the mobile service provider with the largest subscriber base in India . That sort of competitor is difficult to detect, even more difficult to beat (by the time you have identified him he has already gone past you). But if you imagine that Nokia and Bharti (Airtel's parent) are breathing easy you can't be farther from truth.
Nokia confessed that they all but missed the smartphone bus. They admit that Apple's Iphone and Google's Android can make life difficult in future. But you never thought Google was a mobile company, did you? If these illustrations mean anything, there is a bigger game unfolding. It is not so much about mobile or music or camera or emails?
The "Mahabharat" (the great Indian epic battle) is about "what is tomorrow's personal digital device"? Will it be a souped up mobile or a palmtop with a telephone? All these are little wars that add up to that big battle. Hiding behind all these wars is a gem of a question – "who is my competitor?"
Once in a while, to intrigue my students I toss a question at them. It says "What Apple did to Sony, Sony did to Kodak, explain?" The smart ones get the answer almost immediately. Sony defined its market as audio (music from the walkman). They never expected an IT company like Apple to encroach into their audio domain. Come to think of it, is it really surprising? Apple as a computer maker has both audio and video capabilities. So what made Sony think he won't compete on pure audio? "Elementary Watson". So also Kodak defined its business as film cameras, Sony defines its businesses as "digital."
In digital camera the two markets perfectly meshed. Kodak was torn between going digital and sacrificing money on camera film or staying with films and getting left behind in digital technology. Left undecided it lost in both. It had to. It did not ask the question "who is my competitor for tomorrow?" The same was true for IBM whose mainframe revenue prevented it from seeing the PC. The same was true of Bill Gates who declared "internet is a fad!" and then turned around to bundle the browser with windows to bury Netscape. The point is not who is today's competitor. Today's competitor is obvious. Tomorrow's is not.
In 2008, who was the toughest competitor to British Airways in India ? Singapore airlines? Better still, Indian airlines? Maybe, but there are better answers. There are competitors that can hurt all these airlines and others not mentioned. The answer is videoconferencing and telepresence services of HP and Cisco. Travel dropped due to recession. Senior IT executives in India and abroad were compelled by their head quarters to use videoconferencing to shrink travel budget. So much so, that the mad scramble for American visas from Indian techies was nowhere in sight in 2008. ( India has a quota of something like 65,000 visas to the U.S. They were going a-begging. Blame it on recession!). So far so good. But to think that the airlines will be back in business post recession is something I would not bet on. In short term yes. In long term a resounding no. Remember, if there is one place where Newton 's law of gravity is applicable besides physics it is in electronic hardware. Between 1977 and 1991 the prices of the now dead VCR (parent of Blue-Ray disc player) crashed to one-third of its original level in India . PC's price dropped from hundreds of thousands of rupees to tens of thousands. If this trend repeats then telepresence prices will also crash. Imagine the fate of airlines then. As it is not many are making money. Then it will surely be RIP!
India has two passions. Films and cricket. The two markets were distinctly different. So were the icons. The cricket gods were Sachin and Sehwag. The filmi gods were the Khans (Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and the other Khans who followed suit). That was, when cricket was fundamentally test cricket or at best 50 over cricket. Then came IPL and the two markets collapsed into one. IPL brought cricket down to 20 overs. Suddenly an IPL match was reduced to the length of a 3 hour movie. Cricket became film's competitor. On the eve of IPL matches movie halls ran empty. Desperate multiplex owners requisitioned the rights for screening IPL matches at movie halls to hang on to the audience. If IPL were to become the mainstay of cricket, as it is likely to be, films have to sequence their releases so as not clash with IPL matches. As far as the audience is concerned both are what in India are called 3 hour "tamasha" (entertainment). Cricket season might push films out of the market.
Look at the products that vanished from India in the last 20 years. When did you last see a black and white movie? When did you last use a fountain pen? When did you last type on a typewriter? The answer for all the above is "I don't remember!" For some time there was a mild substitute for the typewriter called electronic typewriter that had limited memory. Then came the computer and mowed them all. Today most technologically challenged guys like me use the computer as an upgraded typewriter. Typewriters per se are nowhere to be seen.
One last illustration. 20 years back what were Indians using to wake them up in the morning? The answer is "alarm clock." The alarm clock was a monster made of mechanical springs. It had to be physically keyed every day to keep it running. It made so much noise by way of alarm, that it woke you up and the rest of the colony. Then came quartz clocks which were sleeker. They were much more gentle though still quaintly called "alarms." What do we use today for waking up in the morning? Cell phone! An entire industry of clocks disappeared without warning thanks to cell phones. Big watch companies like Titan were the losers. You never know in which bush your competitor is hiding!
On a lighter vein, who are the competitors for authors? Joke spewing machines? (Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple, himself a Pole, tagged a Polish joke telling machine to a telephone much to the mirth of Silicon Valley ). Or will the competition be story telling robots? Future is scary! The boss of an IT company once said something interesting about the animal called competition. He said "Have breakfast …or…. be breakfast"! That sums it up rather neatly.

How To Plan Your Day

* Visualize your long term picture of success and put it in writing. Review your goal frequently. Your goal should be specific, measurable, achievable and compatible with where you are now. There should be an end date as well. Steven Covey calls this "Begin with the end in mind."
* Try to do your planning at the same time every day. Use this time to review past accomplishments as well as future things to do.
* Use only one planner to keep track of your appointments. Keeping a separate business and personal planner creates confusion.
* Write out a To Do list every day. Include items that can be completed, such as "Prepare exhibits for monthly report", rather than just "Work on report."
* Separate your To Do list into A, B and C priorities. "A" items are important to your long term success, "B" may be urgent but not as important and "C" are those that would be nice to do if you get the time.
* Start with the A items. Don't work on a C just because it's easy to do.

Exam Stress

When we say “STRESS”, it means……..

Stress in individuals is defined as any interference that disturbs a person’s healthy mental and physical wellbeing. It occurs when the body is required to perform beyond its normal range of capabilities.

Stress statements

§  Too much change too quickly can be a cause of stress.
§  Stress can be caused by pleasant and unpleasant events.
§  The cause of stress may not always be apparent.
§  Usually stress is a result of build up of ‘related and unrelated events.’
§  Often your stress is more apparent to others than to yourself.
§  Reactions to stress can be emotional, physical and behavioral.
§  There is no magical formula for a stress free life but there are easy techniques for minimizing stress.

The fear factor…….?

Fear springs from ignorance, fear is a negative response to a problem. The reason why examination produces so much stress in students is the fear and shame associated with failing or getting low marks. Parents also fix targets for children without being aware of their levels of competence and abilities. Thus, they pass on their anxieties about the expected performance of their children. This further leads the children to fear their ability to rise up to the expectations of parents. Peer pressure is also one of the major factors that adds to this stress.

A Hurdle or Stepping stone……?

We need to view examinations not as hurdles in life, but as stepping stones to greater progress. Examinations are stepping stones to rise higher, just as we do in a staircase, slowly moving towards the top. Some steps are easy to climb. Others are not. However, examinations are crucial since they provide a means to test the level of knowledge attained by a student.
